Have you ever drawn parallels between dating and buying a car? Probably not. But it’s something that car manufacturer Cupra cleverly did in a recent branded piece with The Times. And to help them achieve it, they needed a celebrity partner of their own…
Famed for providing expert relationship advice on Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating, Anna Williamson is a dating guru and was a match made in heaven for Cupra. The dating expert is loved across the UK for not only her television work, but her hugely popular podcast LuAnna which she co-hosts with best pal and fellow celeb Luisa Zissman.
To promote and launch their first fully electric car, the ‘Born’, Cupra teamed up with The Times to create tongue-in-cheek branded content. And Anna’s dating expertise certainly helped to bring it to life. It drew on the similarities one might face when choosing a car as they might when entering a first date.
The piece is peppered with funny dating innuendos – “Dashing good looks turn heads, but passion and commitment spell satisfaction. With the V1 model, you’re all set to go the distance”. It also emphasised Cupra’s ‘Love Me or Leave Me’ offer which gives drivers 100 days to decide if it’s the relationship they have been looking for, or not.
As well as the piece featuring in The Times, Anna also shared her work with Cupra and the behind-the-scenes from the coinciding shoot day, to her Instagram account which has an army of 466k followers.
Anna’s hilarious personality and commitment to finding everyone their perfect partner, made her a huge hit for this fun branded content.
