While Dion Dublin is best-known for his football and punditing career, it was his co-presenting work with Homes Under the Hammer that saw him become a great celebrity spokesperson for British Gas.
After having a hugely successful footballing career and playing for several top clubs, England included, he retired from play in 2008 where he then moved into punditry. Having worked with the likes of SkySports and BBC Radio 5 Live, he’s certainly not shy when it comes to speaking about topics he’s passionate about.
We secured Dion as the spokesperson for British Gas where he shared insights from their third annual ‘Net Zero Rankings’ report. The report, which has been in the works since 2021 and follows interviews with more than 12,000 people, demonstrates the nation’s attitudes towards Net Zero. The third one of its kind, the report revealed that 80% of homeowners want to make green changes to their homes, but the transition needs to be ‘simple and affordable’ in order to encourage them to do so.
During the broadcast day Dion sought to increase public awareness of the net zero target and help listeners understand the ways in which British Gas is leading the charge towards the UK’s transition to net-zero carbon emissions.
Speaking to national outlets such as Sky Sports News and talkSPORT, as well as local stations, Dion also shared a few helpful tips that homeowners can start to make changes around their homes, from small habits to home upgrades.
To further aid in British Gas’ mission to raise awareness, Dion also tapped into the influence of his Instagram account, with its 416k followers, to share the report findings and his wider work with the energy services company.
