DUNCAN JAMES KEEPS TAILS WAGGING ON BONFIRE NIGHT WITH CALMING POOCH PLAYLIST

Wrapping up warm, heading into the local park and watching the skies light up is all part of the fun of Bonfire Night. But while we’re all working our way through the second round of sugary doughnuts and wondering if the Baileys to hot chocolate ratio is enough, many dogs are left frightened by the unfamiliar explosions.

All rise for Duncan James (sorry, we couldn’t resist) who helped to calm anxious dogs on Bonfire Night with his playlist of soothing songs. The singer, formerly part of noughties boyband Blue and Masterchef quarter finalist, teamed up with top vet John Burns to create the playlist. Together they curated a mix of songs, as well as expert tips on how to protect dogs on the night.

Duncan took to the airwaves and social media, to make sure god owners knew about the playlist and where to find it. “The playlist will also contain the best possible advice on how to protect your pet,” he said.

“I love dogs and have grown up with them all my life so hate to see any animal stressed and in fear. We can’t stop the fireworks, so it’s up to all pet owners to do whatever they can to protect their animals. I hope my playlist will help them do that.”

As well as giving insight into the kind of songs owners can expect their dogs to be enjoying while they’re at home, Duncan and John also shared tips on how to keep dogs calm in other ways such as walking them during the day before displays begin, create hiding places around the home and creating quiet spaces where dogs can feel in control.
