KAISER CHIEFS’ RICKY WILSON ROCKS RADIO CAMPAIGN FOR SMARTY MOBILE

SMARTY Mobile is a sim-only network and recently hosted a pop-up store called Disc-overy in London. The store gave Brits the opportunity to discover (or re-discover) their love of new music by giving away a free vinyl to each visitor. These vinyl’s were ‘mystery’ vinyl’s to stop people choosing artists they already know and encourage them to listen to new and emerging talents too.

The idea for the pop-up store came after research, commissioned by SMARTY, found that ‘Brits have found themselves in a musical rut with just under half (48%) claiming that they listen to the same music now that they did ten years or more ago’. As well as lots of other findings too.

To refresh the public’s playlists, as well as shine the light on the pop-up store’s event, SMARTY brought The Celebrity Sauce Co. on board to help them secure a talent partnership that would truly sing (sorry!)

This talent needed to be within the music industry, a well-known name and someone who could confidently hold a radio discussion. Armed with this information, and excited about the names we could offer, we proudly secured them a collaboration with Kaiser Chiefs’ very own frontman Ricky Wilson.

With iconic hits such as ‘I Predict a Riot’, ‘Everyday I love You Less and Less’, ‘Ruby’ and ‘Never Miss a Beat’, Ricky was the perfect choice for this campaign.

The campaign involved Ricky taking part in a radio day where he represented SMARTY in radio discussions with a multitude of broadcasters.

During these discussions Ricky advised the public on how they could recapture the joy of discovering new music, while also relaying the importance of initiatives such as SMARTY’S Disc-overy Store in order to find new and exciting artists.

SMARTY were overjoyed with our work in ‘saucing’ them Ricky Wilson and the far-reaching impact of the campaign.
