Kate Quilton waves the flag for sustainable travel with Booking.com

We all love taking trips, travelling and exploring the hidden treasures the world has to offer. And according to new research gathered by Booking.com ‘64% of UK travellers say they want to travel more sustainably over the coming 12 months’ – up 7% from 2022!

While this is a positive increase, the research also found that in-line with the cost of living crisis and global energy crisis, that ‘60% of these UK travellers believe more sustainable travel options are too expensive’, thus feeling forced to choose between cutting costs and making sustainable travel choices.

To help bridge the gap, Booking.com wanted to raise awareness of its Travel Sustainable Badge feature on their website, which features 500,000 sustainable stays globally. This is part of the online travel agency’s mission to make it easier for everyone to experience the world in a more mindful and responsible way by providing credible assurance across its entire travel experience.

Turning to the power of celebrity for help, they required a spokesperson to lead the key messages of the research findings via a broadcast day. And using our expertise in matching brands with the right celebrity, we were able to source them a spokesperson in Kate Quilton.

Television presenter and journalist, Kate is best-known for co-presenting Food Unwrapped since 2012 which explores the secrets behind the UK’s favourite food. As well as this, she has hosted other documentaries with a focus on the public’s health and wellbeing, including reporting for Dispatches on Breastfeeding Uncovered and The Great Formula Milk Scandal, and most recently a Tonight episode on Food Prices: How High Will They Go?

Her passion for representing the public’s interests combined with being a well-known face on television screens, made Kate a great celebrity to front Booking.com’s campaign.

For the broadcast day she took part in a number of both live and pre-recorded TV and radio broadcast interviews where she highlighted the key research findings and helped to inspire Brits to travel more sustainably through the Booking.com website and its handy Travel Sustainable Badge feature.
