We all know that builders love a brew. But research from new trade app, ManoManoPro, has revealed that 60% of traders are now too busy to even stop for their much-loved, far-too-strong (in our opinion) tea. They also found that an average tradesperson wastes around 4 hours a week picking up materials.

To help give these time-stricken traders an hour back of their day, ManoMano – Europe’s biggest online marketplace for DIY, home and garden – launched an extension of their brand called ManoManoPro. This new platform is specifically designed by, and for, trade professionals offering them access to millions of products, easy trackable delivery to project sites and simple invoice management.

While the app was already live and available in France, Spain and Italy ManoManoPro’s ambition was to launch successfully into the UK. And that’s where we came in. At The Celebrity Sauce Co. we were brought on board to help put the tea back into the hands of workers by helping launch the app to the UK trade industry.

ManoManoPro required two celebrities – one to take part in a photocall for social media, and the other to take part in a nationwide broadcast day.

For the photocall we secured the app a partnership with television presenter, former glamour model and DIY enthusiast Melinda Messenger. With an on-screen back catalogue that includes co-presenting Cowboy Builders, her link with the trade industry made her the perfect person to team up with the app.

As part of the collaboration, Melinda delivered brews and bacon butties to builders on a cherry picker to demonstrate the importance of taking breaks in the working day. The pictures captured have been used across social media and sent out to press to not only launch the app, but to share the research findings and the reasoning behind the app’s useful services.

The second part of the launch was of course the broadcast day. If you’ve got a story to share, you just can’t beat radio! We worked hard to provide a spokesperson that not only is widely recognised across the UK, but also one with experience in the trade industry.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope. It’s Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards. Everyone knows the inspiring story of Eddie Edwards, where he represented Britain in 70m and 90m Ski Jump at the 1988 Winter Olympics. But before capturing the heart of the nation and before becoming a legend of the games, he worked as a plasterer alongside his father.

It was this real-life experience in the industry that made for a natural relationship with ManoManoPro. During the broadcast day, Eddie spoke to a number of stations including TalkSPORT, TalkRADIO, Times Radio as well as local BBC stations. With them he discussed the app’s research findings and explained how the simplicity of ManoManoPro can help give traders much-deserved time back in their day.

All this tea talk has got us thirsty!
