ROBINSONS’ SOCIAL CAMPAIGN PACKS A PINCH-PUNCH

After being the official soft drink sponsor of Wimbledon since 1935 Robinsons was more than ready to have fun with tennis fans everywhere… and The Celebrity Sauce Co. were on hand to help them spice things up a little more. 

We’re all children at heart looking for our next kick, so when we were briefed on Robinsons 2021 April Fool’s idea whereby they wanted to trick the online world into thinking they are turning the Wimbledon Centre Court purple, we were bursting with excitement. The only thing missing was a famous name to cause more of a stir. 

In order for the campaign to be believable we knew we had to make the perfect match for Robinsons, so we utilised our relationships with sporting professionals and paired them with seven-time Grand Slam doubles winner and 2015 Davis Cup champion Jamie Murray.

The perfect man for the job, Jamie is blue ticked on Twitter with 155.5k followers and on Instagram with 77.8k followers, so was able to draw on his loyal (or some might say, gullible) fans to pull off this social media prank.  Far-reaching, it was also picked up in a number of national media titles including Mail Online.

Well, the Centre Court at Wimbledon looks set to remain green for the foreseeable future, but it’s fair to say that this campaign achieved Robinsons a match point for practical jokes.
