Sanjeev Bhaskar OBE and Nina Wadia OBE work with Sky for South Asian Heritage Month

Another recent brand and celebrity collaboration was for British broadcaster and telecommunications company, Sky, who hosted an event for its employees during South Asian Heritage month.

South Asian Heritage month took place between Monday 18th July to Wednesday 17th August and organisations were encouraged to host their own events throughout the month as a way to celebrate, commemorate and educate about South Asian culture and its histories.

Sky came to us seeking two powerhouse celebrity speakers who could help them celebrate South Asian culture during a live Q&A session for employees. This was just one of the events we were thrilled to be helping with during South Asian Heritage month and were happy to pair Sky with Sanjeev Bhaskar OBE and Nina Wadia OBE.

The two actors and comedians have respectively had inspiring careers, with Sanjeev best-known for starring in sitcom The Kumars at No.43 and Nina known for playing Zainab Masood in EastEnders between 2007-2013. The pair appeared alongside one another in BBC Two’s sketch show Goodness Gracious Me and so it was a great opportunity reunite the two actors once again.

Nina, who was born in Bombay and Sanjeev of Indian descent came together at Sky HQ where they took part in a Q&A in front of a number of employees. Here they chatted about their heritage, the characters they portrayed in television and the issues around how South Asian people are represented in the media.

It was also a great chance for Sanjeev and Nina to share the ways in which their heritage shaped their careers, their favourite part of their South Asian background and the developments in the industry that they have been proud to be a part of.
