The perfect match: Paul C Brunson and Three Mobile

This February saw the multi-award-winning Gogglebox return to our screens. There’s nothing we love more than snuggling down on a Friday night to watch our favourite families reacting to the best of the week’s TV.

Three Mobile has been the proud sponsor of the show since 2021, and ahead of the show’s return and to mark their sponsorship, the telecommunications and internet service provider kick-started a research study.

They went on a mission to delve into the nation’s ‘second-screening’ habits, such as using your phone while watching TV and uncover Brits’ ‘phoneotypes’ (personality traits based on how people use their phones).

Results found that 3 out of 4 of us use our phones while watching TV. Guilty! But it also found that second-screening in this way has its benefits. Of those polled living alone, 77% admit to using their phone to connect with friends and family about the shows they’re watching, with 1 in 3 saying it helps them feel less alone.

Wanting to share their research, while further promoting their sponsorship of Gogglebox, Three was on the lookout for a celebrity spokesperson, for a broadcast day, who could delve a little deeper into the findings and the effects of the different phoneotypes.

We were beyond excited to partner them with none other than relationship expert Paul C Brunson, who is known as the ‘love doctor’ due to his work as co-host on matchmaking shows including Channel 4’s Married at First Sight UK and Celebs Go Dating.

As part of his work with Three, Paul took part in radio and TV interviews to communicate the different phoneotypes and the impact they have on relationships, friends and family. He also used his personal Instagram platform, which has 237k followers, to post a series of stories on his partnership with Three.

Check out the different phoneotypes below – which one are you?

Textrovert – someone who always texts instead of calls.

The Loud Speaker – A person who always has their phone on speaker.

Couple Scrolls – quality scrolling with your partner.

Text Door Neighbour – messaging someone who’s in the same house as you.

Swipe-xiety – when you show someone a photo and they start swiping.

Screen Saviour Mode – pretending to be on your phone to look busy.

WhoopsApp – messaging the wrong group or person.

Monologger – someone who loves to use voice notes.

Scroll Hole – scrolling so much it’s impossible to stop.
