If you’ve been following our work here at The Celebrity Sauce Co., you’ll know we love a campaign that’s rooted in purpose, and this one ticked all the right boxes.
In the lead up to Christmas, Virgin Media 02 Business launched a new report exploring the rise of second-hand shopping and the boom in at-home entrepreneurship across the UK. With 69% of Brits worried about the affordability of Christmas, the research revealed that 23.8 million adults are now selling items online to make some extra cash – with side-hustle sellers earning an average of £146 per month.
To bring this research to life, Virgin media 02 Business teamed up with the resale platform Depop to empower budding entrepreneurs with six practical tips on how to turn their passion for second-hand shopping into a thriving online business. But they needed the right celebrity partner, someone who genuinely champions sustainability, style, and small business spirit.
Enter Kimberly Wyatt. Best known as a performer, presenter and TV personality, Kimberley is also a self-confessed second-hand enthusiast and advocate for sustainable fashion. She was the perfect spokesperson to front the campaign, sharing her passion for pre-loved fashion and encouraging shoppers to think more consciously this festive season.
As part of the partnership, Kimberly took part in a full broadcast day to discuss her own experiences with second-hand shopping, while breaking down the research findings from Virgin Media 02 Business with audiences looking for inspiration on how to shop and sell sustainably while making a little extra money for Christmas.
In her own words, Kimberley summed it up perfectly: “The holiday season is the perfect time to think about our impact on the planet. I’m a big advocate for second-hand buying and selling – it’s a simple yet impactful way to support sustainability and create a circular economy in today’s fast paces, fast-fashion world.”
With Kimberley’s involvement, the campaign achieved national broadcast coverage and strong social engagement, inspiring thousands of Brits to explore the benefits of buying and selling pre-loved items, all while giving Virgin Media 02 Business and Depop’s message a credible, authentic boost.
